ON BEING WOKE

The term "woke" has signified social justice for Black Americans since the 1940s, when---during their fight for equal pay---a Black mine workers' union leader declared, “We were asleep. But we will stay woke from now on.”

The far-right slandering of the word woke only adds fuel to the fight for people like us, who believe that humanity and equality are worth fighting for.

That's why sitting on the sidelines is no longer an option for me.

We need to #StayWoke as a society.

WOKE means STRENGTH

WOKE means LOVE FOR SELF & HUMANITY. 

WOKE means EQUALITY. 

IN A WOKE WORLD THERE IS DIVERSITY, INCLUSION, COMPASSION & KINDNESS

IN A WOKE WORLD PEOPLE FEEL SAFE & ARE FREE TO BE THEMSELVES.
